Please note, when contacting Mountain Search and Rescue, that the first information required is the number of the phone you are phoning from.

Information regarded as necessary:

  • What happened? (Fall/snake-bite/heat-exhaustion etc)

  • To whom? (Name, Gender, Age)

  • Where? (Area, Kloof, Nearest climb if known

  • Description of injuries ( Where on body, severity, fractures)

  • Condition of person (Alert, Responds to Voice, Responds to pain, Unconscious)

  • Access routes (How do we find you?)

STAY AT THE PHONE! If necessary, send SOMEONE ELSE back!

A point of concern is that great difficulty is being experienced raising funds for Search and Rescue. The Club relies on financial assistance to replace its specialised Search and Rescue equipment, and if funds are not available this could jeopardise not only the quality of service rendered, but also the safety of club members involved in Search and Rescue, and of the members of the public to whom the service is rendered.
